Don't apologize. There was a lot of, ah, pollen, and we inhaled a lot of it. I am likely going to be coughing it out for a while.

But I will be fine. I was already healed a little before we arrived back here, so I am in no danger of dying.

Pollen? What else was there? There was too much blood and torn everything to be just pollen.

We went to a planet covered in forest and plants. Our goal was to steal something called a heartseed in a garden, and we needed to sneak into a party full of wealthy people to do it. It turned out the heartseed was actually a sentient plant, and it attacked the area we were in. It had many long vines covered in thorn, and it spewed pollen that... transformed those who breathed enough of it in.

That is where our injuries are from. It did not stop until the heartseed was destroyed.

[ she tenses a little, and she clasps her hands in front of her. a fancy party explains the outfits, but that's not the most worrying part. ]

The pollen and the thorns mostly, right? [ or she hopes, as bad as that is to hope. ] What... kind of transformation?

Into trees, more or less. Their skin turned into bark, they couldn't breathe... it appeared to be a horribly painful process.

Apparently, every year those people would meet there and watch a group of criminals fall victim to the pollen. I would assume that the attack on the party itself was new and unplanned.

[ HE REALLY DOUBTS IT WOULD BE A YEARLY EVENT IF EVERYONE GOT MCMURDERED NORMALLY ]

It would be foolish if they let that much death happen every year. It is one thing to punish criminals that way, but to those they haven't proclaimed guilty?

[ it'd take some kind of brainwashing. ]

This is not something I would like to watch, criminals or not.

Mm. We ended up interrupting the ceremony, but... the criminals likely still ended up dead anyway, because of how chaotic the attack from the plants got. I got separated from the other three very quickly, so I wasn't even sure if they were still safe or not for some time.

Mm. I found out where the heartseed was, so I went after it. The others were too busy just trying to fend off the attack that I'm surprised they saw where I ran off to.

[ he really cannot emphasize how chaotic everything was and how easy it was to lose sight of everyone the second they left your line of sight. ]

It sounds like an ordeal. You were successful in the end, weren't you?

[ it would be awful to have to go through all that and fail. ]

Mm. I am not sure we all would have made it back here otherwise. Adrastea-sama wasn't even able to land our ship near us with all the vines.

... if they ask you to go on a mission, just be on guard. Even if you refuse, you will likely still end up on it anyway. However, I was able to get some use of my normal abilities back while there-- I do not know if that will always be the case though. Something was interfering with the nanites.

A precarious trade-off. I would feel safer if the nanites were interfered with, but that means I would likely be in a more dangerous environment.

[ not that the eudora is 100% safe. ]

I do not want to see anyone come back like that again, but I know that is unrealistic on this ship.

I think we should all be prepared for it. The fact that there were two groups in one day is also concerning, if that continues as well. The number of people potentially in danger each week will increase by a lot...

[ plus, the other potential danger of people dying, but at this point they don't have the confirmation of that occurring yet. ]

It's one danger after another. I didn't expect this to be safe place, but this is more than I anticipated. [ and so soon. ]

I'll expect it to happen again instead of being an oddity.

[ better to be paranoid than taken unawares. ]

It is very likely, yes. If it does, at the very least it sounds like they put you in a group instead of singling you out.

[ since the other ones was another group of four. ]

Just make sure you are all on the same page. With us, we got separated, but it worked out. However, without my abilities, I am not sure if it would have worked out the way at did.

There may be safety in numbers, but it also makes those groups more vulnerable when lockdown happens.

[ since she doesn't know how mg mechanics work but is still assuming someone might die tonight.

what she hears is if he didn't get some of his abilities back, he'd be closer to dead. ]
